We're in-network with most major insurance plans available to Maryland residents. Plans change, so we verify your specific coverage before your first visit and tell you your expected cost up front.
New to using insurance for mental health care? Our guide on whether insurance covers psychiatric care in Maryland walks through how coverage usually works.
Accepted insurance carriers
We accept the following plans. Don't see yours? Many plans have multiple network names, so contact us and we'll verify it for you.
Questions to ask your insurance company
Before your first appointment, it can help to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
- Do I have mental health (behavioral health) benefits?
- Is Paraview Behavioral Health in-network with my plan?
- Do I have a copay, coinsurance, or deductible for outpatient mental health visits?
- Has my deductible been met, and when does it reset?
- Do I need a referral or prior authorization?
- Are telehealth visits covered the same as in-person?
Self-pay rates
We accept self-pay for patients without insurance or who prefer not to use it. Self-pay amounts are due upon arrival for each visit.
Ways to pay
Your insurance may cover all or part of your care. For any remaining cost, or if you're not covered, here are your options.
Insurance
We submit claims to your carrier as a courtesy. You're responsible for copays, coinsurance, and deductible amounts.
HSA / FSA
Use your pre-tax Health Savings or Flexible Spending Account card for copays, visits, and prescriptions.
Self-pay & cards
We accept all major credit and debit cards, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
Financial policy
Our practice participates with most major insurance carriers. If you have any questions about whether a specific provider is participating with your health plan, please contact our front office at (301) 524-4659 before services are rendered. Our office will obtain insurance eligibility and benefits prior to your initial visit, and again whenever your insurance changes.
Though your insurance plan is a contract between you and your insurer, as a courtesy we will submit insurance claims to all of your insurance carrier(s). The policyholder is financially responsible for all denied and non-payable balances from the time services are rendered, and for all outstanding amounts due after your insurance(s) have processed your claim, including any deductibles, co-insurance, and co-pays. All financial amounts, including self-pay rates, are due upon arrival for each visit.
Cancellations & no-shows
We know life can be unpredictable, and we appreciate your prompt communication so we can accommodate changes. We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice, and missed appointments, are subject to a flat $50 fee.
Frequently asked questions
Insurance & billing questions.
Do you accept my insurance?+
We are in-network with most major plans in Maryland, including Medicaid of Maryland, Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield / CareFirst, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana. Plans and network names change often, so the surest way to know is to contact us, we verify your specific coverage before your first visit.
How much will my appointment cost?+
It depends on your plan. With insurance, your cost is usually a copay or coinsurance, and may depend on whether you've met your deductible. We verify your benefits before your first visit and tell you your expected out-of-pocket cost up front, so there are no surprises.
Do you bill my insurance, or do I get a bill?+
As a courtesy, we submit claims to your insurance carrier(s) for you. After they process the claim, you may receive an Explanation of Benefits (not a bill) from your insurer, and an invoice from us for any remaining balance such as a copay, coinsurance, or deductible amount.
What if you're not in-network with my plan?+
You can still be seen as a self-pay patient at the rates below. If your plan offers out-of-network benefits, we can provide a superbill, an itemized receipt of your care, that you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?+
Yes. You can use a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card to pay for copays, visits, and prescriptions.
In crisis? If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) for 24/7 support, or call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Paraview Behavioral Health does not provide emergency or crisis services.
