Our approach to medication management
Good medication management is a relationship, not a transaction. We start by understanding your full history, what you have tried, what helped, what did not, and what you are hoping to get back to, before we change anything. From there we build a plan with you and adjust it deliberately over time.
We favor evidence-based, conservative prescribing. That means using medication when it genuinely helps, choosing options with your goals and tolerances in mind, and monitoring closely in the early weeks when dose and timing matter most. We coordinate with your therapist or primary care provider whenever that keeps your care aligned.
Who this is for
You may benefit if you are…

- Patients transferring care from another psychiatrist
- People who have tried medication before and want a fresh look

What to expect
Your first visit is a 60-minute evaluation. Follow-ups run 25 to 30 minutes and happen more often at first, then space out as things stabilize, often to once every one to three months for maintenance. You see the same provider each time, so every decision builds on the last.
Medication Management: common questions
- Can you continue a medication another provider started?
- Yes. If you are already taking a psychiatric medication, we will review what you are on, why, and how it is working, then continue or adjust it as appropriate. Bring a current medication list to your first visit.
- Do you prescribe controlled substances like stimulants or benzodiazepines?
- We do prescribe controlled medications when they are clinically appropriate, with responsible monitoring. Some controlled substances may require an in-person visit or additional check-ins under state and federal rules. We will tell you plainly what is involved.
- Is medication management available by telehealth?
- Yes. Most medication management works well by secure video across Maryland, with in-person visits at our Frederick office available whenever you prefer.
