Psychiatric Evaluations

A psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive 60-minute visit with one of our board-certified providers. We review your history, current concerns, prior treatments, and goals to arrive at a clear diagnosis and a plan you understand and agree with. Evaluations are useful whether you're seeking a first opinion, a second opinion, documentation for school or work accommodations, or a fresh look after prior treatment. Available in person in Frederick and by telehealth across Maryland.

Our approach to psychiatric evaluations

A psychiatric evaluation exists to answer a question clearly: what is actually going on, and what would help. We take the time to review your history, current symptoms, prior treatment, and goals so the diagnosis is accurate and the plan makes sense to you.

Evaluations are useful well beyond a first visit. People come to us for a fresh second opinion, for documentation supporting school or work accommodations, or simply because they are not sure what kind of care they need and want an honest read.

Who this is for

You may benefit if you are…

  • Teens and adults seeking a diagnostic clarification or second opinion
  • Patients establishing care for the first time
  • People who need an evaluation for accommodations or documentation
  • Anyone unsure what kind of care they need

What to expect

Plan on a full 60 minutes. We will talk through what brought you in, your background, and what you want to change, and you will leave with a clear understanding of the diagnosis and the options. If medication is part of the plan, we can start it; if therapy is the better fit, we will point you in the right direction.

Psychiatric Evaluations: common questions

Can an evaluation be done by telehealth?
Yes. Most psychiatric evaluations work well by secure video. We will flag the rare situation where an in-person visit is the better call.
Can you provide documentation for accommodations?
In many cases, yes. After a thorough evaluation we can provide documentation for reasonable school or workplace accommodations when it is clinically supported.
